A facilities mechanic is responsible for the duties necessary to help keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. This includes, but not limited, to the completion of minor maintenance repairs and other primary functions. A facilities mechanic performs essential duties such as aiding in the performance of urgent, corrective repairs of minor problems related to electrical and plumbing systems, assisting in the replacing and repairing of equipment, appliances and lighting systems as required, maintaining routine records of all repairs, completing preventive maintenance on a continuous basis to ensure continuous operation of the facility, completing manual duties as requested, such as moving supplies, replacing light bulbs, locks, doors, etc., maintaining facilities according to regulatory requirements, and assisting in ensuring facilities are properly maintained, painting walls and/or equipment and making minor painting repairs.
