About The Position

The Facilities Mechanic II is responsible for conducting routine inspections, identifying repair needs, and promptly addressing issues related to the hotel's physical infrastructure. This includes fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls), electrical systems, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems. The role involves performing complex repairs, troubleshooting problems, and coordinating with external contractors. A key aspect of this position is developing and implementing a preventive diagnostic program to ensure optimal functioning of all equipment and systems. The Facilities Mechanic II must maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to safety regulations and industry standards, collaborating with various hotel departments and outside contractors, and maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities. This role also involves training and guiding junior team members and staying updated with new technologies and training resources.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent degree required.
Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in general maintenance/repair for a commercial facility required.
Must be able to obtain a New York State Gaming License.
General knowledge of the use of equipment used in building trades.
Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Ability to understand and follow OSHA guidelines.
Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Visual acuity sufficient for reading, performing repairs, and painting.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and identify repair needs for the hotel's physical infrastructure, including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems.
Perform complex repairs, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate with external contractors.
Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive diagnostic program for all equipment and systems.
Regularly inspect and service equipment, follow manufacturer guidelines, and maintain accurate records of repair activities.
Make recommendations for equipment replacement when maintenance is nearing end-of-life or becoming inefficient.
Maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure the proper functioning of safety equipment.
Collaborate with hotel management, operations, supervise outside contractors, and maintenance staff.
Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and provide training and guidance to new staff members.
Maintain accurate records of diagnostic and repair activities, equipment inventory, and maintenance performed.
Prepare regular reports on maintenance expenses, project updates, and equipment performance.
Utilize management repair tracking hardware and software and input appropriate metrics.
Proactively improve technical skills and stay up to date with new technology through training resources.
Work with leadership to develop Facilities Mechanic I team members.
Perform routine inspections around the building to identify potential issues such as structural damage, windows, and door issues.
Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
Test and diagnose building heating equipment for possible repairs.
Operate relevant tools and machinery necessary to perform duties.
Perform minor tasks commonly performed by another craft to complete the major assignment, such as removing conduit, touching up paint, installing molding, repair and painting of retaining walls, doorways, repair of HVAC vents, plumbing related work, and cleanup/demolition.
