About The Position

  • A minimum of 4 years experience in one or more of the construction trades, i.e. plumbing, carpentry, tile, electrical, roofing, sheet metal, heating and air conditioning, irrigation, grading, fencing, landscaping, windows, doors, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense, understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to research, compile information and analyze facts and make recommendations based on information.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to use construction tools required of the job. Must be able to climb ladders.   • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Responsibilities

  • Proactively manages the administrative functions of the Facilities Department, including; ? documenting, categorizing, and tracking all school-wide facility, custodial, and beautification activities. ? Provides operational updates to the Assistant Head of School as requested related to updates on project status, budget utilization, maintenance trends, and upcoming facility needs.
  • Oversees and supports Facilities Department staff through ongoing training, performance feedback, and annual evaluations, ensuring team members understand expectations, meet safety and quality standards, and demonstrate continual professional growth.
  • Directs & executes, (non-athletics) daily custodial responsibilities on campus (custodial campus and contracted staff). ? Custodial responsibilities include (as needed): Check bathrooms cleanliness and toiletries, to include hand towels, hand soap, seat protectors. Cleaning and sanitizing of items as instructed. Cleaning or extracting of vomit or other human spoils or waste. Routine cleaning of campus (excluding athletics) to include, brooming, washing, picking up trash, power washing as instructed. ? Collaborates as necessary with evening custodial crew to ensure evening custodial needs are met. ? Other custodial duties as needed
  • On an as-needed basis, leads smaller facility projects from initiation through full execution. ? This includes: Working with subcontractors, procuring quotes as necessary and Estimating labor and material costs.
  • Directs and oversees the regular maintenance and custodial operations of the school campus, working closely with staff and subcontractors to ensure all facilities are maintained in safe, clean, and operational condition. ? Utilizes the HelpDesk system to identify, prioritize, assign, and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Performs and/or oversees routine maintenance of all equipment used in facilities operations, including but not limited to golf carts, lawn mowers, weed eaters, gas-powered mules, and power tools.
  • Performs and/or supervises repairs campus-wide, which may include carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, roofing, concrete, stucco, and landscaping. When repairs or projects require skills or capacity beyond in-house capabilities, coordinates and supervises outside subcontractors as delegated by the Assistant Head of School for Operations and HR.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and maintains inspection records for required safety and compliance activities, including but not limited to: ? Semi-annual fire system inspections (contracted); ? Annual elevator inspection (with internal monthly inspections maintained); ? Monthly K-5 playground inspections; ? Annual City of Vacaville all-campus fire inspection; and ? Annual fire extinguisher inspection (with internal monthly fire extinguisher and smoke alarm testing).
  • Orders and manages janitorial supplies, maintaining vendor accounts with HD Supply, Waxie and other vendors as required.
  • Monitors and oversees VCS campus systems and Energy Savings Policies and Procedures
  • Maintains and oversees facility-related service accounts and contracts, including, but not limited to: ? Recology (waste management). ? A2Z Landscape (campus landscaping services). ? Mario Flores (janitorial contract services). ? Order a summer debris box for staff (June - July, or as needed). ? Oversees ML schedules for the Facilities team to ensure effective staffing and timely task completion. ? Manages and tracks the issuance of all facility keys and alarm codes for campus security. ? Coordinates and oversees all tree maintenance and general landscape upkeep for the entire campus. ? Works collaboratively with facilities staff (and other departments, as appropriate) to propose an annual facilities budget, execute approved expenditures, and track spending in alignment with the school’s financial goals. ? Takes ownership of campus beautification and, working with facilities staff and/or contractors, implements and maintains a proactive plan to ensure that all campus spaces are clean, safe, and visually appealing.
