About The Position

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, safety, and functionality of Type One Energy’s physical facilities to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This role works cross functionally with internal functions and external partners to deliver safe, compliant, and suitable facilities. The Facilities Manager oversees building systems, vendor relationships, maintenance programs, space planning, regulatory compliance, and capital improvement projects. You will also manage facility-related budgets and supporting business operations across a growing multi-site portfolio of five corporate office locations and one industrial warehouse facility spanning three countries. The Facilities Manager serves as the company's primary point of contact for tracking, negotiating, and monitoring leases and facility performance across every location in the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive facilities management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a multi-site facilities portfolio (5+ locations), including commercial lease negotiation, administration, and vendor standardization across sites.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent project management, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the company's real estate portfolio, currently comprised of five (5) corporate office locations and one (1) industrial warehouse facility, with responsibility for portfolio growth as the company scales.
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and security systems.
  • Coordinate facility repairs, renovations, and minor construction projects from planning through completion.
  • Manage relationships and performance of landlords, contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Track lease terms, critical dates, renewal options, and expiration timelines across all corporate office and warehouse locations, ensuring sufficient lead time for renewal, expansion, or exit decisions.
  • Lead lease negotiations, renewals, amendments, and terminations across the portfolio, partnering with Legal and Finance to secure favorable terms and manage risk.
  • Monitor rent payments, escalations, charges, and operating expense reconciliations across all locations, and audit landlord invoices for accuracy against lease terms.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for landlords, brokers, and property management teams at each corporate office and warehouse location.
  • Standardize facility operations, vendor contracts, and service levels across multiple sites to ensure consistency, drive cost efficiency, and support portfolio-wide reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety standards.
  • Lead office space planning, moves, additions, and workplace improvements to support organizational growth.
  • Oversee building security, access control, emergency preparedness, and business continuity planning.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and provide after-hours support as needed.
