About The Position

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Facilities Manager to join our team! This position will train, lead, and direct maintenance mechanics, maintenance workers and groundskeepers of the Facilities staff in daily, weekly, monthly projects and tasks which will include day shift, 2nd shift, and weekends. In addition the manager will ensure work is performed timely and according to organizational and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • 2 year vocational/ technical training in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Steam Boilers.
  • Acceptable driving record allowing individual to be insured.
  • Minimum 5 years’ personnel and building management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to perform the same tasks as Maintenance Mechanics.
  • Knowledge of the principles of electricity, electronics, plumbing, pipe-fitting, boiler operation, HVAC, general building maintenance, building trades, construction phasing, and landscaping.
  • Understanding of Life Safety, Bio Hazard and related codes and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills including email and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • License or certification, or ability to achieve in Boiler, HVAC or Electrical trades.

Responsibilities

  • Trains all new Maintenance and Grounds staff to perform all tasks outlined in their job descriptions. Coaches staff by recognizing good performance and counseling them where improvement is needed.
  • Provides accurate schedules for all staff. Receives requests for time off and schedules that as staffing allows while meeting the needs of the facilities department.
  • Makes daily rounds on all areas and ensures work is being performed to standards.
  • Meet regularly and communicate to other department managers of all areas covered, solicit feedback on work performed.
  • Meet regularly with staff ensuring they are current on their training needs and all pertinent information that should be shared is communicated effectively.
  • Operates and assists in managing several data programs, including an HVAC control, web based system, a work request/preventive maintenance program, and a time card/payroll system. Proficient in the use of e-mail, word and spreadsheet software.
  • Assists the Director in ensuring the SLVH system is in compliance with all regulatory agencies, and standards, including local building and fire codes, NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and others. Assist Director in maintaining a current list of known deficiencies with a plan for improvement.
  • Assists Director and Project Managers with the coordination and management of special events, facility planning, contractor services, and construction projects.
  • Assist employees in finishing their tasks if the workload demands (high census, short staffing, or both) and reporting back to the Director of Facilities.
  • Participates in on-call system and may work weekends when needed.
  • Participate in Facility snow removal.
