About The Position

The Facilities Management Director is responsible for the overall planning, maintenance, and operations of all buildings and properties owned by the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, ensuring a safe, efficient and compliant environment. This role involves assisting in budget management, coordinating teams within the FM Department, overseeing projects and implementing strategies to optimize facility performance and sustainability. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma, HSED or GED, required.
  • Five plus years’ experience as a mechanic, custodian, or related field, required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain additional training/education, required.
  • This position must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license, vehicle, and appropriate vehicle coverage as a condition of employment.
  • Be eligible to be put on the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Experience in carpentry work, preferred.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery, such as snowplow, sander, tractor, front end loader and command hand and power tools, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing long-term facilities plans, including renovations, additions and maintenance.
  • Assist in creating and monitoring budgets for facilities operations, maintenance and capital projects.
  • Oversee routine maintenance, repairs and renovations to ensure building systems function properly.
  • Manage and supervise all facilities staff, including cross training, scheduling and assigning duties.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Lead to ensure duties are being fulfilled in a timely and productive manner.
  • Assist in solicitation of bids, overseeing and being point of contact for third party contractors for facilities services.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining safety protocols and emergency response plans.
  • Work with other departments and stakeholders to address facility needs and issues.
  • Work with all departments within the Public Works Division to assist in providing services when necessary.
