Franklin County is looking for a skilled, motivated professional to lead our Facilities Maintenance team and help keep our buildings safe, efficient, and welcoming for employees and the public. As a Facilities Maintenance Crew Leader, you’ll guide daily operations, support a hardworking crew, and ensure that repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance are completed with excellence. An employee in this class provides project support to the Maintenance Director and Superintendent in providing advanced skill and leadership to the facilities maintenance staff involved in building construction, renovation, repair, facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, and custodial work. Work includes receiving and responding to facilities and buildings problems, makes appropriate plans and ensures follow through with assigned supervisor and customer. Employee works with minimal supervision unless the work project is unusual or without precedent. The employee is involved in monitoring safety, coaching individuals and work teams in skill, work procedures, selection of materials and by outlining the final product desired. Daily responsibility to facilities management and supervises and leads skilled trades, semi-skilled and maintenance staff in a full-range of construction, renovation, repair, and facilities maintenance responsibilities; receives problems/requests, evaluates costs, assigns, and prioritizes work orders. Considerable tact and courtesy are required in frequent contact with departmental staff and the public. Work involves problem solving and requires independent judgement and initiative, and tact and diplomacy. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Director, and work is reviewed for lasting quality, effectiveness, appearance and functionality through conferences, inspections, and a review of records.
