About The Position

The Maintenance Technician will help to provide adequate maintenance and preventive maintenance on all Good Shepherd Catholic Community equipment, buildings, and grounds, to ensure safety to all persons, including staff and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have a valid State driver’s license. Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and auto insurance meeting diocesan minimum requirements.
  • Experience with building, ground, and/or industrial maintenance.
  • Some general ability to navigate computer software
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), building energy management systems and event scheduling systems, office practices, record keeping techniques, file practices

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Must be personable and able to converse intelligently and work effectively with contractors, parishioners, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, and minor repairs of electrical appliances, valves, gas stoves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, heating and cooling systems, sewer lines, irrigation sprinklers.
  • Help with a variety of installation, repair and renovation to buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures and articles.
  • Occasional Painting/Sanding and Staining, Power washing, Window Cleaning.
  • Makes minor repairs where needed to the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
  • Removing of snow and ice from roadways, parking lots ramps and walkways.
  • Responsible for coordinating with lawn company in maintenance and upkeep of grounds
  • Moving and transporting furniture, books, misc. items from buildings as needed
  • Maintain Inventory of Kitchen and Office supply of stock items, providing a detailed list of items to be ordered to supervisor.
  • Maintains daily maintenance logs and work reports indicating time and materials used.
  • Be responsible for all equipment, tools and other equipment.
  • Assist other areas related to overall maintenance of the system when assigned.
  • Other duties may be requested from time to time through the Business Manager and Facilities Manager.
