About The Position

Heights Christian Schools is seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and families. This role involves using expertise in maintenance and repairs to support the school's mission of academic excellence and faith-based education. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the basic maintenance and repair of the campuses, including interior, exterior, and vital systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), ensuring the safety and aesthetics of all Ministry facilities. This position requires spiritual maturity and a reflection of the ministry's purpose to honor Christ at all times.

  • Have a high school diploma or a GED equivalent.
  • Receive a fingerprint clearance to work with children from State and Federal governments.
  • Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy, having a basic proficiency in doing word processing, creating and using a spreadsheet, e-mailing, and accessing the Internet.
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.
  • Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to 'train a child in the way he should go'.
  • Be an enthusiastic visionary, an encourager, and a self-starter with a high energy level.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity toward staff, parent, volunteers, and children, and an ability to interact effectively with them.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in general up-keep of facilities, which may include painting, cleaning, and repairing of various types of equipment and buildings.
  • General upkeep of campus grounds including play areas.
  • Handles power tools, hand tools and other needed supplies.
  • Operate a company vehicle following all required policies and procedures.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and operational condition.
  • Complete maintenance work orders promptly and accurately using the computerized work order system.
  • Diagnoses basic repair problems and exercises initiative to make repairs as instructed.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Consistently improves and promotes quality, demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Work with all locations in the ministry to support all ministry/school events.
  • Assist with the coordination of all facility needs connected to activities, work direction, and support systems.
  • Recognize the need for good public relations.
  • Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the public.
  • Be willing to adjust work hours to accommodate special schedules or ministry-related activities as requested.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by President & CEO or the Superintendent of Schools.
