About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting facility maintenance, repair, safety, and reliability activities across the JELD-WEN Kissimmee site. This role performs preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on facility systems, building infrastructure, grounds, utilities, and support equipment to ensure a safe, organized, and operational work environment. The position supports production operations by responding to facility-related needs, completing assigned work orders, coordinating with contractors when needed, and maintaining compliance with site safety standards, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of facility maintenance, general building repair, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, HVAC support, carpentry, painting, doors, docks, lighting, and basic fabrication.
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, work orders, safety procedures, equipment manuals, drawings, sketches, and specifications in English.
  • Effective and professional communication with maintenance, production, safety, quality, leadership, contractors, and other support teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, complete assigned tasks, document work accurately, and ask for support when needed.
  • Dependable, punctual, safety-focused, team-oriented.
  • Willing to work overtime, at weekends, adjusted schedules, or on-call emergency support when business needs are required.
  • Must be able to work around machinery, noise, dust, heat, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility while wearing required PPE.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification, trade school training, or associate degree in industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in industrial, manufacturing, facilities, or building maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience using a CMMS system.
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, lighting, doors, docks, restrooms, break rooms, and other building systems.
  • Inspect equipment and facility areas for wear, damage, leaks, unsafe conditions, or operational concerns and report issues promptly to the supervisor.
  • Diagnose and repair facility-related issues using proper tools, methods, and safety practices.
  • Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, welding, fabrication, and general building repairs as assigned.
  • Complete assigned work orders through the site CMMS process, document work performed, parts used, findings, and follow-up needs.
  • Communicate incomplete work, delays, parts needs, or safety concerns to the Maintenance Manager or designated lead.
  • Follow all JELD-WEN safety policies, PPE requirements, LOTO/COHE requirements, hot work requirements, and applicable OSHA standards.
  • Report safety hazards, near misses, damaged equipment, or unsafe facility conditions immediately.
  • Assist with vendor and contractor activities as directed, including escorting, communicating scope needs, supporting access to work areas, and ensuring site safety expectations are followed.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized maintenance areas, facility workspaces, storage areas, and tool locations.
  • Ensure tools, ladders, parts, and materials are stored properly after use.
  • Perform routine inspections of building systems, grounds, doors, lighting, restrooms, break areas, dock equipment, and other assigned facility areas.
  • Communicate findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Respond to urgent facility needs, leaks, spills, power issues, HVAC issues, safety concerns, or other facility-related interruptions as assigned.
  • Be available for on-call support for facility or maintenance emergencies, including after-hours, weekends, or adjusted schedules when required by business conditions.
  • Assist with identifying, organizing, and communicating facility repair parts, supplies, tools, and consumables needed to support maintenance activities.
  • Support maintenance initiatives, 5S, TPM, downtime reduction, reliability improvements, and site improvement projects as directed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while performing job tasks.
  • Conform with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including storage spaces.
  • Other duties assigned by the management staff.
