About The Position

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities & Maintenance Technician performs hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance to keep KULR’s buildings, equipment, and grounds safe, functional, and code-compliant. This role troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains building systems—including HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems—as well as production-support infrastructure, responding to work orders and performing scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. The Technician completes general repairs (drywall, painting, doors, and fixtures), supports facility readiness and improvements, documents work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and performs all work in accordance with OSHA and applicable safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of hands-on facilities, building, or industrial equipment maintenance experience; manufacturing environment preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 certification required for refrigerant/HVAC work, or the ability to obtain it within an agreed period of hire
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong working knowledge of facility and equipment maintenance across HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry, drywall, painting, and building repair.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic and test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures, including OSHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and accurate work-order documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize competing work orders.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling and lift equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor/aerial lift, pallet jack) with appropriate certification.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability and initiative, exhibiting honesty and respect toward others, the company, and oneself.
  • Ability to serve as an active team member and support the team effort in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members, vendors, and other departments.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training, a trade certificate, or an associate degree in HVAC, electrical, industrial/building maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred.
  • Additional trade certifications or licenses a plus (e.g., HVAC (NATE/HVAC Excellence), electrical or plumbing license, CMRT, forklift, scissor/aerial lift).

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure per established schedules and manufacturer specifications.
  • Respond to work orders and service requests; troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair facility and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect, lubricate, clean, adjust, and replace worn or defective parts to keep equipment in safe, working condition.
  • Document all maintenance, inspections, and repairs in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R systems and components (e.g., units, pumps, motors, air handling, filters), including refrigerant handling in accordance with EPA Section 608 requirements.
  • Perform light electrical work, such as troubleshooting and replacing outlets, switches, fixtures, and lighting, in compliance with applicable codes.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems and fixtures, including leaks, drains, and water lines.
  • Support installation, relocation, and maintenance of production-support utilities and equipment in coordination with operations and engineering.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Perform all work in compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA/NEC codes, and company safety policies.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other energy-control procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify, report, and help correct workplace hazards; maintain proper signage, guarding, and equipment.
  • Support hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal, and maintain SDS records in accordance with regulations.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and emergency drills (e.g., fire, evacuation).
  • Perform general building repairs and upkeep, including drywall, painting, doors, locks, and other fixtures and finishes.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of interior and exterior areas, including offices, conference rooms, parking lots, and grounds.
  • Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions and seasonal needs.
  • Coordinate with and support outside vendors and contractors for inspections, repairs, and specialized services as directed.
  • Monitor and maintain maintenance supplies, tools, and spare-parts inventory; notify the supervisor of reorder needs.
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support for emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
