About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the church by ensuring that all facilities, equipment and grounds are safe, functioning, and welcoming. This position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of Church properties while providing exceptional service and support to staff, volunteers, congregation members, and guests. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and solutions oriented, with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. They take pride in maintaining a high standard of excellence and contribute to creating an environment where ministry can thrive.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Perform repairs on electrical equipment, including light fixtures, pumps, coffee makers, and similar devices.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, faucets, and drains.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on gas-powered equipment.
  • Install and repair hardware including door locks, hinges, closers, and related components.
  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
  • Complete general maintenance tasks associated with daily church operations.
  • Work effectively alongside volunteers to accomplish maintenance and facility projects.
  • Provide a positive, encouraging, and rewarding volunteer experience.
  • Promote teamwork and help volunteers develop confidence and ownership in assigned tasks.
  • Set up and tear down tables, chairs, staging, and equipment for church events and ministry activities.
  • Assist with furniture relocation and room reconfigurations.
  • Assemble and install equipment, furnishings, and event-related materials as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment throughout the facility and grounds.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, maintenance issues, and potential hazards.
  • Support facility safety standards and best practices.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the Facilities Director.
  • Assist with lawn care, mowing, trimming, and landscaping projects.
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems.
  • Perform pond maintenance and treatment using approved products.
  • Assist with snow removal, including shoveling, snow blowing, and salting.
  • Install and remove seasonal decorations, including Christmas lighting and displays.
