About The Position

The City of Saratoga Springs is hiring a full-time Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. This employee is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of City buildings. They will oversee the ongoing custodial & maintenance to ensure that facilities are clean, safe, attractive, and secure. Will direct and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Maintenance Technicians, Facilities Custodians, and other outside vendors as assigned. Works under the direction of the Office & Facilities Administrator. All employees are also under the general supervision of the City Manager.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have eight (8) years of experience working in custodial fields, building maintenance, construction, or a related field, a minimum of four (4) years of previous experience as a crew lead or front-line supervisor.
  • Must possess a valid Utah Driver license
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow City policies and procedures
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, and public safety matters
  • Knowledge of industrial cleaning/custodial duties, cleaning methods, and supplies
  • Journey level knowledge of commercial maintenance with working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, drywall repair, and painting
  • Able to correctly identify and source compatible parts and materials
  • Ability to direct and work with facilities employees, as well as work with other City staff
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others (i.e. employees, volunteers, and the general public)
  • Must have excellent communications skills (both written and oral) to direct employees, coordinate with other departments, answer public inquiries and enforce City facilities rules
  • Receive, deliver, and explain oral and written instructions
  • Communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions

  • Use all tools and operate all equipment, properly and safely, necessary to perform work of the position including climbing ladders and balancing without assistance

  • Work in both an office environment as well as outside in the field

Responsibilities

  • Provides front-line supervision to assigned individuals, including training, identifying priorities, schedules work, monitors work progress, and monitors employee performance for accuracy and effectiveness
  • Manage all repairs, maintenance, inspections, upkeep, and installations at City facilities
  • Will troubleshoot equipment and components in City buildings by utilizing multiple craft skills, including but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry
  • Oversees and may perform cleaning services such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash containers, dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, cleaning interior windows, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, locker rooms, kitchens, and break rooms, polishing fixtures, filling dispensers, and one-time major cleaning projects
  • Oversees and performs building maintenance and repairs including, but not limited to, lighting, lamp replacement, switches, painting, drywall, carpentry, windows, doors, electrical, equipment and appliances, and plumbing (including sinks, toilets, ice machines, and drinking fountains), tables, HVAC, and walls
  • Oversee and perform preventative maintenance to ensure functionality, safety, and code compliance, while maintaining an aesthetic appearance in City buildings
  • Oversee building maintenance and repair work performed by outside vendors
  • Document, review, work with employees to take corrective action and report violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Document, review, and report all work-related safety incidents, including near misses
  • Keeps accurate records of work performed, inventory used, and requirements for upcoming projects
  • Inform and work with Facilities Administrator in the acquisitions of tools, supplies, and other equipment needed for cleaning, repair, and maintenance projects
  • Utilize CityWorks Management/Work Order system, using mobile phone or tablet, to track open work orders, track and assign other employees' work and to record facilities repair & maintenance history
  • Create, oversee and perform processes designed to keep work flowing in a cost-effective manner
  • Assists with the dissemination of information to other City Personnel and impacted parties on assigned projects
  • Direct, set up, and prepares buildings for large special events, both public & private, where heavy lifting, tools, or heavy equipment are required
  • Will be required to work outside of regular business hours as needed and may be required for emergency cleanup and repairs or scheduled maintenance work
  • Assist with snow removal, during inclement weather, at City Facilities
  • May assist with tracking, scheduling, and overseeing maintenance and repair of the Administrative department's vehicles
  • Performs other duties as assigned
