About The Position

Novolex is a leading manufacturer of food, beverage, and specialty packaging that supports multiple industries including foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, and industrial sectors. Novolex manufacturing and sourcing expertise spans a diverse range of substrates including resin, paper, molded fiber, aluminum and more. We provide customers a broad array of stock and customized solutions with 120 product categories, 250 brands and over 39,000 SKUs. The Facilities Maintenance Associate inspects buildings, equipment, and systems to identify issues and perform necessary repairs, performs scheduled preventive maintenance, and responds to emergency repairs. This role also coordinates with external contractors, starts up and shuts down plant systems, troubleshoots mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues, and operates various maintenance equipment. The associate is expected to maintain accurate records, assist other team members, train less experienced employees, and comply with safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or certification in industrial mechanics from an accredited institution.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documents and instructions.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and man/scissor lift operation certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, lift (up to 50 lbs.), and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with repairs in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and carpentry.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to emergency repairs as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to changing lights, unclogging drains, repairing leaks.
  • Coordinate with external contractor for specialized repairs or projects beyond routine scope.
  • Start up and shut down plant systems including generators, air compressors, cooling towers, and chillers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
  • Operate maintenance equipment such as lathes, mills, welders, drill presses, and hand tools.
  • Utilize computer-based systems to locate spare parts and generate maintenance reports.
  • Maintain required personal hand tools and ensure proper tool use and storage.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete time reports.
  • Assist electricians and other team members when needed.
  • Train and support less experienced employees as assigned.
  • Comply with safety procedures and utilize all required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team-based problem solving.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
