About The Position

Milwaukee County is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team. This role is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of facilities and grounds. The position requires operating commercial vehicles with a CDL and airbrake endorsement, performing skilled grounds maintenance, operating heavy equipment, and driving specialized vehicles to support facility operations. Requirements

Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.
HS Diploma/GED equivalent.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement required.
At least one (1) or more years of work experience in Groundskeeping, landscaping or facilities maintenance or related.
Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
Willing to work any assigned shift and be on call for emergency situations.
The ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs; push/pull up to 150lbs. on a regular basis.
Must be able to work in all Milwaukee County facilities including secured detention/high-security facilities.
Applicants must successfully undergo a criminal history background check to establish security clearance for Milwaukee County facilities and maintain this clearance throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of safe vehicle operation, airbrake systems, and DOT regulations.
Strong attention to detail & commitment to safety.
Mechanical skills for equipment maintenance preferred.
Leading teams or supervisory experience preferred.
Must have availability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, shift rotations and holidays as needed or emergency response (e.g., snow removal).

Responsibilities

Performs routine and preventative maintenance tasks on vehicles and equipment, including inspection and troubleshooting of building systems.
Completes work orders via an electronic system, conducting regular inspections of facilities and grounds equipment.
Performs maintenance requested by tenants or facilities staff, responding promptly and documenting completed work.
Maintains grounds by mowing, trimming, and cleaning, including emptying trash bins and performing advanced tasks like tree removal and stormwater pond maintenance.
Operates and maintains equipment such as Bob Cats, Back Hoes, and Frontend Loaders for groundskeeping.
Trains or guides Facilities Grounds Worker 1 staff and assists with special projects, events, or emergency response.
Clears walkways, roads, sidewalks, and parking areas of snow and ice using plows or heavy equipment.
Supports moves, quality assurance, and coordination of tenant requests, as well as events and other facility tasks.
Operates and maintains a variety of heavy vehicles requiring a CDL with airbrakes, snowplows/salters, trucks with trailers, and other specialized equipment.
Performs inspections on all assigned vehicles.
Other related duties as assigned.
