The Facilities Environmental Safety Specialist will manage and oversee portions of the Accreditation Environment of Care (TJC), and/or Physical Environment (DNV) Safety programs for multiple Advocate facilities. This role acts as a liaison for various safety chapters, coordinates and chairs the Environment of Care or Physical Environment Committee, and assists with Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA), Environmental Compliance (EPA), Construction Safety, and Operations activities. The specialist will support regulatory agency personnel during compliance inspections, interface with facility administration and leadership on special projects, and present safety programs and training. They will discuss safety and risk assessment impacts on operational changes affecting patient, teammate, and visitor safety, and initiate documentation for projects such as Pre-Construction Risk Assessment (PCRA), Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM). The role involves generating reports, educating on corrective actions, conducting internal inspections and safety rounds, and managing hazardous waste/materials. Additionally, the specialist will act as a first responder for incidents, maintain on-call readiness, and serve in incident command roles.
