About The Position

As part of the talented Facilities team, you will support facility engineering, infrastructure improvement, and sustainability initiatives across Mercury Marine's manufacturing and office facilities. This role provides hands-on experience working with HVAC systems, electrical power distribution, energy management programs, and building improvement projects. The Facilities Engineering Intern will assist with project planning, data analysis, contractor coordination, and building systems optimization while gaining exposure to real-world engineering and facility operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Energy Management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in facility engineering, building systems, energy management, and infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits
  • Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the the months May through December of 2027.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, floor plans, and equipment documentation.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or building automation systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, CMMS platforms, or project management software.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency, sustainability programs, or utility analysis.
  • Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in engineering, facilities, manufacturing, or construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support HVAC improvement projects including equipment assessments, system upgrades, performance monitoring, and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Assist with electrical infrastructure projects involving power distribution systems, lighting upgrades, backup power systems, and facility modernization efforts.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on utility consumption, energy performance, and sustainability metrics to support operational and environmental goals.
  • Assist with planning, tracking, and documentation of facility capital improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support project execution and completion.
  • Participate in facility assessments, operational audits, and building system evaluations.
  • Maintain facility drawings, equipment records, project documentation, and engineering data.
  • Support environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives related to facility systems and infrastructure.
  • Assist with workplace and facility improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and employee experience.
  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.
