About The Position

Join the MDC Team as a Facilities Engineer! At MDC Data Centers, we’re looking for a motivated and hands-on Facilities Engineer to join our team in McAllen, Texas. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants to build practical experience across data center operations, critical infrastructure, power systems, and outside plant (OSP) while developing into a well-rounded facilities professional. As a Facilities Engineer, you will support the reliability, maintenance, and continuous improvement of MDC’s critical infrastructure. You’ll gain hands-on exposure across different areas of our operations, beginning with data center infrastructure and progressively developing your knowledge of outside plant, electrical/power systems, facilities, and engineering processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Interest in data centers, critical infrastructure, electrical/power systems, telecommunications, or facilities engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on mindset and willingness to learn in the field.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation and diagrams.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to learn new systems, equipment, and processes quickly.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Previous data center, facilities, electrical, telecommunications, or infrastructure experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation, inspection, and maintenance of data center facilities and critical infrastructure.
• Assist with electrical, power, cooling, and other facility-related systems.
• Participate in preventive maintenance activities and infrastructure inspections.
• Gain hands-on exposure to data center operations and equipment.
• Support Outside Plant infrastructure activities and projects.
• Assist Engineering and Facilities teams with technical projects, documentation, and implementation.
• Help identify and escalate infrastructure issues that could affect reliability or operations.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, reports, and records.
• Follow established safety, security, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, Network Operations, and other MDC teams.
