About The Position

The Facilities Engineer will support the reliability, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Intuitive Machines' facilities and manufacturing infrastructure. This role will provide technical leadership across building systems, manufacturing support infrastructure, equipment installations, and facility projects while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day facilities operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of industrial and manufacturing facility systems and is comfortable moving between engineering projects, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, preventive maintenance, and hands-on support. This position will work closely with Facilities, Manufacturing, Engineering, contractors, vendors, and internal customers to ensure a safe, reliable, and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting facilities, manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similar technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial mechanical systems, facility infrastructure, and manufacturing support equipment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting facility systems and resolving maintenance issues in an operational environment.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, maintenance activities, and facility projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technicians, engineers, vendors, contractors, and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, advanced microelectronics, cleanroom manufacturing, or another high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ISO-classified cleanrooms and HEPA/ULPA filtration systems.
  • Experience with high-purity process gases, hazardous production materials, cryogenic systems, or vacuum infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with CMMS and/or Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Experience supporting equipment installations in an active manufacturing or cleanroom environment.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant facilities/mechanical certifications.
  • Military maintenance or facilities experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the reliability, maintenance, and optimization of facility infrastructure and manufacturing support systems, including HVAC, filtration, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and related building systems.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to support facility requirements for new equipment and manufacturing tools, including space planning, utility requirements, installations, facility hook-ups, and commissioning.
  • Support the operation and optimization of cleanroom environments, including HVAC, HEPA/ULPA filtration, air circulation, and associated systems supporting ISO-classified manufacturing environments.
  • Support the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process utility systems, including high-purity fluids, process gases, cryogenic systems, and hazardous production material infrastructure.
  • Support point-of-use vacuum systems, pumps, abatement systems, forelines, and other facility interfaces supporting high-vacuum manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve facility and equipment issues, including mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance concerns. Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions for recurring or critical issues.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical facility systems. Utilize CMMS and BMS tools to track maintenance activities, equipment performance, work orders, and system reliability.
  • Support and/or lead facility upgrades, equipment installations, infrastructure improvements, and capital projects from initial planning through installation, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Coordinate with contractors, service providers, and equipment vendors to schedule maintenance, repairs, inspections, installations, and other facility services. Support vendor evaluations, equipment inspections, and factory acceptance activities as needed.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and building rounds to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, equipment issues, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure assigned areas remain safe, clean, functional, and productive. This incorporates an important element from the current technician role.
  • Serve as a technical resource for employees and internal customers, responding to facility concerns and ensuring issues are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure facility activities comply with applicable OSHA requirements, building and municipal codes, environmental and safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Work collaboratively with Facilities, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Safety, Security, and other internal teams to identify facility needs and develop practical solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for facility systems, maintenance activities, projects, inspections, repairs, and equipment history. Provide status updates and recommendations to Facilities leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility reliability, energy efficiency, maintainability, safety, and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for facilities technicians and other team members, providing guidance on troubleshooting, maintenance, safety, and facility systems.
  • Travel domestically as needed to support equipment procurement, vendor coordination, inspections, factory acceptance testing, and other facilities activities. The original engineering JD anticipates approximately 15–20% travel.
