About The Position

Celgard, a subsidiary of the Asahi Kasei Group, is seeking a Facilities Electrician to join their maintenance team in Charlotte, NC. This role is crucial for the operation and upkeep of various facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. The Facilities Electrician will be responsible for installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and inspection of this equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing plant. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, including both corrective and preventative measures, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors. A strong understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and safety procedures is essential, as is the ability to operate specialized equipment and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent training required.
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial environment maintaining and repairing facilities equipment required.
• Able to troubleshoot a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems required.
• Read/comprehend electrical schematics.
• Able to repair and/or replace electrical components that make up HVAC systems required.
• Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., climb ladders, bend, and twist in order to reach remote equipment.
• Able to use special tools and equipment in order to install and maintain various systems (tools include but are not limited to hammers, wrenches, electric drills, pipe cutters, metal cutters, benders, thermometers, pressure gauges, manometers, acetylene torches, and volt meters, multi-meter, etc.).
• Proficiency with computers and computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel).
• Must be able to deal with conflict productively, bringing forth issues that need to be discussed and work to forge a mutually beneficial outcome.

Nice To Haves

• Special courses in HVAC, electrical, pneumatic, facility monitoring/control and power plant systems are preferred.
• NC or SC electrical license is preferred.
• Basic understanding of Cleanroom HEPA filtration systems, cleanroom requirements and protocol.
• Basic understanding of complete HVAC system monitoring best practices of optimum manufacturing run conditions.
• PIV equipment license (forklifts, man lifts, etc.).
• Have the ability to work on a high performing team, contributing to an environment where open and honest communication is the norm.
• Ability to build effective workplace relationships, motivating co-workers, and supporting co-worker development.
• Must have the desire to be empowered & work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace electrical components.
• Operate, maintain, inspect, test, and repair facilities-related maintenance, including compressors, dryers, chillers, air handlers, HVAC and condensation systems, building and grounds, fire facility monitoring, fire response systems, lighting, plumbing, water, air, docks, roll-up doors, Building Automation System.
• Perform daily checks on mechanical and electrical rooms, air compressors, dryers, chillers, fire facility monitoring, and Building Automation System.
• Conduct corrective equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance on Facilities Equipment.
• Organize and lead contract labor as required.
• Utilize technical publications, diagrams, etc., to accomplish maintenance, repair, and ordering of material and equipment.
• Identify and source parts needed for repairs.
• Assist in accomplishing required services for HVAC systems that utilize Freon (CFC-HCFC).
• Operate PIV equipment (forklifts, man lifts, etc.).
• Perform office repairs including painting, plumbing, lighting, walkways, etc.
• Maintain screw type chillers and water-cooled air handlers.
• Maintain operations and maintenance records.
• Work collaboratively with others; lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
• Follow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures, plan safety into projects and tasks.
• Keep all Celgard information CONFIDENTIAL.
