The Salvation Army is hiring a Facilities Custodian for its Harrisburg – Operations & Facilities Services department. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility by performing routine cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance tasks. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and common areas, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, removing trash and recycling, and replenishing supplies. The custodian may assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings or events, monitor building conditions, report maintenance or safety concerns, and support minor facility upkeep. This role helps ensure that all spaces are properly maintained, safe, and welcoming for staff, visitors, and program participants while following established health, safety, and organizational procedures. The Custodian performs daily custodial services, floor care, room setup for programs and events, exterior grounds maintenance, and basic facility support to ensure the building is prepared for ministry, community programs, and worship services. The Custodian also assists with inventory management, vehicle support, minor maintenance projects, and seasonal responsibilities, including the annual Christmas campaign. Working as part of the Operations team, the Custodian takes pride in creating an environment that reflects excellence, hospitality, and care for all who enter the facility while supporting the overall mission and daily operations of The Salvation Army.
