About The Position

The Pecos Police Department is seeking a Facilities Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the department's facilities. This role involves a variety of cleaning tasks in offices, conference rooms, restrooms, kitchen, break rooms, and parts of the jail. The duties are intended as a guideline and may expand to cover daily operational needs of the building. The employee will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police and will not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in general housekeeping.
  • Ability to read English (e.g., cleaning solution directions).
  • Ability to perform basic math in measuring cleaning solutions.
  • Ability to organize work and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Must pass a physical and drug test.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must pass a psychological examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and steam cleans carpets.
  • Dusts surfaces, washes glass, and cleans/polishes furniture and woodwork.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and replenishes restrooms and fixtures.
  • Collects and disposes of trash in outdoor receptacles.
  • Sweeps sidewalks and tidies outdoor areas.
  • Maintains and cleans janitorial equipment.
  • Manages inventory of cleaning supplies and reports needs for replenishment.
  • Moves, unloads, and shelves boxes of paper in the Copier Room (assistance available for moving and lifting).
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
