Job Summary: The Facilities Chemical Technician – Level 4 performs skilled chemical operations and facility system support with moderate supervision. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting chemical processing systems—including water treatment, chemical delivery, and mixing systems—while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations. The technician independently addresses routine issues, supports system optimization, and contributes to process improvements. This position builds on foundational knowledge by applying technical expertise, supporting system reliability, and providing guidance to Level 3 technicians within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of related experience in chemical processing, facilities, or maintenance
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle as required for the role
  • 3+ years of related experience in chemical processing, facilities, or industrial environments
  • Working knowledge of chemical handling, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, HazCom)
  • Moderate troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
  • Experience using CMMS systems for work order management and documentation
  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks and troubleshoot issues within defined scope
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation and operational processes
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed
  • Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting and working in confined spaces
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

  • Associate degree in Chemical Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER awareness, or NFPA70E training
  • Hazardous Materials Technician certification
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certification
  • 6+ years of experience in chemical or manufacturing environments
  • Experience in water treatment, chemical delivery, or industrial process systems
  • HAZWOPER experience or certification
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to process improvement or root cause analysis methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot chemical processing systems with minimal supervision, including pumps, RO/DI systems, mixers, and chemical delivery systems
  • Perform system checks, chemical transfers, and process monitoring activities in alignment with SOPs
  • Conduct control checks on raw materials and intermediate chemical processes to ensure adherence to specifications
  • Collect and support analysis of production samples for testing and validation
  • Complete chemical load check-in/check-out procedures and ensure accuracy of associated documentation
  • Document and maintain accurate batch records, chemical usage, operating parameters, and quality checks to support production processes
  • Use diagnostic tools and system data to identify performance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and minor repairs on chemical processing equipment
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment within functional area
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve routine equipment issues and process inefficiencies
  • Analyze system performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing waste
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for system or quality issues
  • Provide guidance, support, and on-the-job training to Level 3 and peer Level 4 technicians
  • Assist in onboarding and skill development of newer team members
  • Reinforce standard operating procedures, safety practices, and best practices within the team
  • Collaborate with engineers, chemists, maintenance, and facilities teams to resolve operational and process issues
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and system improvements
  • Communicate clearly and effectively regarding system performance, issues, and completed work
  • Support cross-functional efforts to investigate and resolve quality or operational concerns
  • Ensure adherence to all safety procedures, SOPs, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, HazCom)
  • Properly utilize PPE including respirators, chemical suits, and arc flash protection as required
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of operational, maintenance, and quality records
  • Support compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications
  • Uphold 6S standards and maintain area cleanliness
  • Respond to chemical spills or hazardous material incidents in coordination with leadership and EHS teams
  • Apply working knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements to daily operations
