About The Position

Under the direction of a senior technician or supervisor, the Facilities Building Systems Technician 1 performs intermediate-level tasks to maintain a safe, comfortable, and operational environment. This role supports the continuous functionality of mechanical and utility systems, equipment, and indoor air quality.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience in building systems operations, commercial or industrial building maintenance, and/or HVAC and building automation systems.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification – Universal (must be obtained during the probationary period)
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety and Health Card (must be obtained during the probationary period)

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated competency in each of the technical specialties relevant to the responsibilities of this position (required after successful completion of the probationary period).

Responsibilities

  • Provide building support services, including inspection, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair or replacement of building systems and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations involving electrical, mechanical, or medical gas disruptions; assess and resolve issues and initiate appropriate protocols when problems cannot be immediately resolved.
  • Assist other trades as needed to ensure seamless operations.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Attend meetings and complete required documentation.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors using written, electronic, and verbal methods.
  • Operate departmental vehicles as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
