Under the general direction of a lead technician or supervisor, this position performs complex-level tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable environment; uninterrupted operation of mechanical and utility systems and equipment; and acceptable indoor air quality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing building support services and inspecting, troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, and replacing building systems and equipment. The incumbent responds to emergency situations such as electrical, mechanical, and medical gas disruptions by evaluating issues, correcting defects, and initiating the appropriate response protocol when problems cannot be resolved independently. The role may include assisting lower-level technicians and supporting other trades as needed. Additional responsibilities include adhering to all safety practices and procedures; cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment; attending meetings; completing required documentation; and delivering a high level of customer service. Effective communication with customers, coworkers, and supervisors is required through written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices. The position operates department vehicles and performs other duties as assigned. Work shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational needs and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The position may require overtime and is subject to 24-hour emergency call.
