About The Position

The City of Monticello is seeking a part-time Facilities Attendant to perform routine cleaning and light maintenance duties in various city buildings. This position requires approximately 18 hours per week, with work scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. While no prior experience is necessary, a valid MN Driver's license is a requirement for consideration. The role ensures that all City facilities are maintained in a safe and clean environment for patrons and involves performing daily janitorial work and light maintenance. The position will remain open until filled.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid MN Drivers license.
  • Working knowledge of the cleaning of heavy use buildings, including: tools, equipment, cleaning chemicals, and standard practices in the field.
  • Working knowledge of Community Center policies, procedures and rules.
  • Considerable skill in cleaning heavy-use recreation and fitness buildings.
  • Considerable ability to perform thorough disinfecting and cleaning tasks on a multitude of surfaces and finishes.
  • Considerable ability to follow oral and written instruction, to complete daily activities according to work schedule to complete daily activities according to work schedule, prioritize work and perform duties independently.
  • Considerable ability in meeting customer needs with a positive attitude and in a manner that reflects good customer service.
  • Considerable ability to travel to various city buildings via foot or city vehicle.
  • Working ability to locate, read and understand Safety Data Sheets.
  • Working ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and communicate effectively with City staff and the general public.
  • Hear and speak effectively to communicate in person or by phone with city staff and the public.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Use large motor skills to perform manual and maintenance work, involving regular standing, walking, bending, moderately heavy to heavy lifting and carrying, twisting, turning, climbing and maintaining balance, crouching, standing, walking, kneeling, reaching, working at heights of over 10 feet and pushing and pulling.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds from the floor.
  • MN Class D Driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous janitorial experience.
  • Certified Pool Operator license.
  • General building maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans City facilities; removes trash and recycling and replenishes supplies in bathrooms and other assigned areas.
  • Lifts and moves equipment, furniture and boxes as required.
  • Assists other city departments as directed and performs other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Performs set-ups and teardowns for events and rentals to ensure rooms are ready for use and set up appropriately.
  • Responds to requests for assistance from Community Center staff and patrons.
  • Cleans and maintains entrances and sidewalks; removes snow and mows grounds as needed.
  • Performs opening and/or closing procedures for the Community Center building as assigned.
  • Performs and logs necessary tests on pool water to ensure compliance with Department of Health guidelines and MCC policies as assigned.
  • May be required to add pool chemicals under the direction of a Certified Pool Operator.
  • Assists with special related projects as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
