About The Position

Facilities Attendants I and II perform general and routine custodial duties in the preparation and clean-up of scheduled rental facility events for the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. This position accomplishes a variety of custodial and customer service tasks such as greeting patrons, opening and closing facilities, cleaning facilities, and maintaining equipment inventory. Work is performed under close supervision – the incumbent is assigned duties according to specified procedures and receives detailed instructions; work is checked frequently and is reviewed through observation and review of results achieved.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules, and practices of the work.
  • General knowledge of departmental and municipal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • General knowledge of standard and effective cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to work unsupervised at all Recreation Facilities buildings.
  • Ability to operate small hand tools, blowers, and pressure washers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, city officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate information tactfully and impartially, both in person and in writing with all staff, city officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the City of Winter Park Core Competencies.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and keep accurate records.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; supplemented by customer service and general labor experience.
  • Two years of experience as a Facilities Attendant I (for Facilities Attendant II)
  • Possess a Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or must obtain NASFM Crowd Management Training Certification (for Facilities Attendant II)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating facility-specific audio-visual systems and other essential equipment, including but not limited to commercial kitchen appliances, cleaning equipment, and general maintenance tools (for Facilities Attendant II)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in event attendance/management is preferred.
  • Driver’s License is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patrons as they enter the facility, communicate, and enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Opens and closes facilities, cleans and sets up rooms, checks out equipment, and maintains equipment inventory.
  • Sweeps, strips, mops, waxes, and buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpet.
  • Lifts and moves risers and tables.
  • Washes windows, empties trash cans, waters plants, dusts, and polishes furniture.
  • Stock rooms and restrooms with appropriate supplies
  • Perform other work as assigned.
