About The Position

The Facilities Associate supports the daily maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and overall functionality of the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA facility. This entry-level position assists with basic repairs, facility upkeep, room setups, cleaning, and general support duties to help ensure an exceptional experience for everyone who enters our building. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining clean and organized spaces, and values being part of a mission-driven team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull furniture, equipment, and facility supplies as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in maintenance, custodial services, facilities, groundskeeping, or customer service.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, cleaning equipment, and safe work practices

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine facility walk-throughs to identify maintenance, cleanliness, safety, or repair needs.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, painting, furniture moving, and equipment setup.
  • Support daily cleaning and sanitation of common areas, program spaces, locker rooms, restrooms, and exterior areas.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks to help extend the life of equipment and facility assets.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, storage areas, and supplies in a clean and organized manner.
  • Report maintenance concerns, hazards, and completed work to supervisors.
  • Assist with seasonal facility needs, including snow removal, salting, and exterior cleanup.
  • Set up and break down rooms, tables, chairs, equipment, and supplies for programs, meetings, rentals, and special events.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to facility-related requests from staff and leadership.
  • Assist vendors and contractors by providing access to approved work areas as directed.
  • Help prepare spaces for maintenance work, inspections, deliveries, and facility projects.
  • Communicate observed service concerns to Facilities leadership.
  • Support cleanup and restoration of work areas following maintenance or contractor visits.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, damaged equipment, and facility concerns.
  • Follow YMCA safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and emergency response guidelines.
  • Assist with facility inspections, drills, and safety checks as assigned.
  • Complete maintenance and cleanup tasks related to corrective safety actions.
  • Maintain awareness of member, staff, and visitor safety while performing daily duties.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across departments to support daily operations.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with YMCA members, guests, volunteers, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Follow direction from Facilities leadership and complete assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support changing facility needs, including evenings, weekends, special events, and emergency situations.
  • Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment that reflects YMCA values.
