About The Position

Community Solutions has an exciting full-time opportunity for anyone looking to continue their career in the Maintenance field. Working under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Assistant will ensure all agency buildings, grounds and equipment are maintained and repaired promptly. You will gain first hand experience while working with a team that has long tenure, dedication and a friendly work environment. Community Solutions has client facilities and office locations throughout Santa Clara County.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 year of experience in institutional and/or construction trades required.
  • Have the ability to read and follow written instructions.
  • Experience operating power equipment, electrical pumps/motors, construction tools and using standard maintenance practices.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical and carpentry.
  • Experience with standard safety practices
  • Ability to bend/stretch/lift up to 50lbs
  • Written and verbal command of English required.
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license, current car insurance and a good driving record as documented by a DMV report and consistent with the Agency’s liability insurance requirements.
  • Requires an automobile to perform routine job duties.
  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by specific programs, licensing regulations and Community Solutions practices.
  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as an employee for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical maintenance.
  • Repair and upkeep of all buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure a safe environment for all Agency buildings.
  • Set up and take down for office moves, meetings or other functions.
  • Respond to emergency situations and solve safety concerns in an immediate fashion.
  • Operate various hand and power tools; as well as working with chemical cleaning products.
  • Plan and organize work requests received by employees.
  • Oversee the work completed by contractors to ensure all tasks are completed and meet safety requirements, regulations and codes.
  • Assess all facilities and equipment problems and perform or recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Maintain records of preventative maintenance services and service requests.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails within 24 hours on business days to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Attend and participate in Agency meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement activities to enhance team and program development.
  • Must have the ability to operate their personal or Agency motor vehicle between facilities.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours rotation as assigned.
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends.
