About The Position

Under supervision, performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, repair, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and other related work as required. Skills are developed through training programs and then applied to maintenance and repairs of equipment including vessel boiler, electrical, air-conditioning refrigeration, plumbing, as well as a working knowledge of all other skill areas. This position is a bridge training and a steppingstone to a general mechanic role. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction.
  • Ability to analyze situations and develop an effective course of action.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations as required by the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the trades or completion of high school pre-apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in the state accredited Facilities Apprenticeship Program.
  • Meets competencies and learning milestones.
  • Performs general inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing items within the hospital or clinic setting. Examples of works may include but not limited to: unclogging plumbing lines, replacing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tile, repair leaking faucets, and painting touch-up.
  • Completes preventive maintenance inspections in accordance to scheduled checkpoints and maintains documentation appropriately.
  • Reports on time to the program’s designated sites and completes all scheduled classes, labs, study periods, and any other activities required by the training partner. Activities may be virtual or in-person.
  • Completes program within the designated amount of time.
  • Complies with all Ochsner policies at all times while representing Ochsner, including while offsite.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
