Position Summary The Facilities and Waste Water Systems Technician is responsible for supporting both facility operations and the onsite Industrial Wastewater Treatment System (IWTS). This position divides time between performing general building maintenance, repairs, space support, vendor coordination, and facility improvement projects, while also operating, monitoring, maintaining, and documenting wastewater treatment processes in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of facilities, maintenance, wastewater, or related industrial experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Solid knowledge of facility maintenance and repair practices, including carpentry, plumbing, furniture systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Solid knowledge of Industrial Wastewater Treatment System (IWTS) operations and safe operating procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including pH monitoring, sampling techniques, chemical handling, and process control.
  • Basic knowledge of pumps, valves, piping systems, filter presses, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of workplace safety practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting practices applicable to industrial wastewater systems.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements related to chemical storage, handling, and disposal.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic concepts including volts, amps, pressure, flow rates, and equipment operation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic computer skills and recordkeeping experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and repair activities throughout the facility.
  • Respond to plumbing, lighting, ceiling tile, signage, and door hardware repairs.
  • Assemble, install, and repair furniture, shelving systems, and workplace equipment.
  • Support employee relocations and workspace reconfigurations.
  • Assist with facility renovations, remodels, and construction projects.
  • Coordinate and monitor outside vendors and contractors.
  • Support event setups, emergency response, snow removal, and facility upkeep.
  • Operate and monitor the Industrial Wastewater Treatment System (IWTS).
  • Inspect pumps, piping systems, valves, mixers, controls, and holding tanks.
  • Collect samples, monitor pH levels, and adjust treatment processes as needed.
  • Monitor filter press operations and manage waste disposal.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of wastewater equipment.
  • Maintain regulatory records, reports, logs, and documentation.
  • Support environmental compliance and agency inspections.
