About The Position

As a Facilities and Maintenance Manager I, you will oversee facility personnel and maintenance functions of buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles. You will manage the design, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and inspection of construction projects and building alterations. Your role includes ensuring compliance with municipal regulations and fire safety codes, creating facility layouts and architectural drawings, and analyzing cost management, lease tracking, and administrative functions within the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) Department. As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Requirements

  • Ability to Obtain & Maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in operations or a related area.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications.
  • In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 11 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Knowledge of building systems, construction, and municipal regulations.
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Prior experience in construction/maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • General understanding of the safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to motivate/work with others.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • General understanding of fire safety, building/maintenance codes, OSHA guidelines, and permitting/inspection processes.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Facilities Management (e.g., IFMA CFM, FMP).
  • Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, OSHA 40.
  • Experience working across multiple facilities with industrial/lab complexity.
  • Previous management experience; the ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Identify and coordinate resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available and effective.
  • Experience working with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise facility personnel and manage maintenance activities for buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Plan, budget, schedule, and inspect construction projects and building alterations.
  • Gather and review data to ensure construction feasibility and compliance with municipal regulations and fire safety codes.
  • Use computer software to create facility layouts and architectural drawings.
  • Review architectural drawings for accuracy.
  • Evaluate practices relating to cost management, lease tracking, and seating/allocation.
  • Oversee the management of supplies and equipment needed for maintenance and repairs.
  • Work with various departments and external contractors to ensure the efficient execution of projects.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, project progress, and compliance documentation.
  • Leads day‑to‑day facilities operations across five facilities.
  • Oversees facilities team and contracted janitorial staff; current team size is five.
  • Oversees office environments, labs, logistics areas, and small production operations.
  • Supports SNC lab and production environments in a national security context.
  • Weekly site visits to assigned facilities; occasional travel for training/support.
  • On‑call support required.
  • Budget literacy aspects: invoice management and support to contract oversight.
