About The Position

The Facilities and Logistics Specialist role involves overseeing the logistics, maintenance, and operational efficiency of all training props, equipment, and grounds within the Training Division. Responsibilities include developing preventative maintenance programs for SCBA equipment, conducting repairs on equipment and props, coordinating logistics with the training staff, and operating heavy machinery daily. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of the District's rules, policies, and procedures, and the ability to develop positive working relationships with various stakeholders. This role is part of a progressive, team-oriented environment and requires a self-starter with a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fire service, construction management, and/or facilities management.
  • A valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer software used for project management and reporting.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying conditions and temperatures.
  • Able to lift/move up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with logistics software or comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Ability to effectively use computers and software, including the district’s records management system and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve logistical challenges efficiently.
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in facilities, construction, fire science, or related field.
  • Experience in municipal or emergency services is a plus.
  • Certified in machinery operations specific to Bobcat/Skid Steer and Telehandlers.
  • Certified as an SCBA Tech I.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs for SCBA equipment.
  • Conduct repairs on equipment and training props.
  • Coordinate logistics with training staff.
  • Operate heavy machinery daily.
  • Manage the department's SCBA program, ensuring certification, repairs, warranty compliance, recall management, and documentation.
  • Oversee the department's SCBA compressors, ensuring compliance with service contracts and NFPA regulations.
  • Coordinate and schedule annual hydro tests for air bottles to be NFPA compliant.
  • Ensure training buildings are maintained and certified for compliance with NFPA standards for burn buildings.
  • Arrange props and materials needed for departmental training functions.
  • Repair and maintain all equipment and training props, including training buildings, ventilation props, car props, SCBA washer, and air trailer.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory system for consumable supplies and fixed assets within the training division.
  • Coordinate academy logistics and needs with the Training Captain and Training Coordinator.
  • Order supplies for training needs based on instructions from the Training Captain or Training Coordinator.
  • Manage and maintain the PSTrax platform inventory system.
  • Acquire training vehicles and establish relationships with heavy wrecker and salvage yard businesses.
  • Process requests for training equipment.
  • Ensure training facility grounds are clean and well-maintained, including weed control, track sweeping, and snow plowing.
  • Maintain and develop replacement cycles for all training equipment and tools.
  • Maintain the inventory of all training Connex boxes.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, warranties, purchases, and inventory forecasts.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming equipment and supplies.
  • Organize and maintain inventory storage areas for accessibility and efficiency.
  • Pull and prepare items for delivery based on operational needs.
  • Coordinate and manage the maintenance, fueling, and cleaning of all training vehicles.
  • Coordinate snow removal efforts with the training captain and training center staff.
  • Train to serve as a backup for the Quartermaster.
  • Participate in annual mask fit testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
