About The Position

The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing and overseeing preventive and routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to: the repair and general maintenance throughout the distribution center facility, its grounds and equipment through daily, weekly and monthly inspections, and as necessary. This role involves performing repair and general maintenance work on the facility/building and grounds externally and internally. It also includes assisting with and performing installation, maintenance, repair, and construction in basic building maintenance trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, and mechanics. The associate will troubleshoot and provide minor maintenance or replacement to equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other mechanical equipment, as well as minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, and plumbing systems. Routine inventory and inspections, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits, are also part of the responsibilities. The role requires communication with management regarding issues and follow-up, inventory and restocking of first aid kits, building and dismantling warehouse racking, and removing snow/ice at all exterior entrances/exits. Interaction with vendors including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, builders, and technicians is also expected. Additionally, the associate will perform sanitation/food safety responsibilities, maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance schedules and inspections, order supplies and materials, and maintain the facilities, equipment, and grounds in good working order, cleanliness, and per sanitation guidelines. Support for each department within the company with necessary maintenance is also a key function.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of building maintenance experience, preferably in warehouse distribution environment
  • Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair and a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of the warehouse distribution center
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skill in reading and following blueprints and assembly instructions
  • Skill in using hand and power tools and ability to operate pallet jack, forklift and various warehouse equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently, handling multiple tasks with varying degrees of skill, including follow up and resolution of maintenance and repair responsibilities.
  • Ability to interface with peers, team members, other departments as well as all levels of Management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inventory and inspections, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
  • Communicate with management regarding issues and follow up.
  • Inventory and restock first aid kits.
  • Build and dismantle warehouse racking.
  • Remove snow/ice at all exterior entrances/exits throughout the facility.
  • Interact with vendors including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, builders and technicians.
  • Perform Sanitation/Food Safety Associate responsibilities including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, trash collections, charging equipment, loading and sorting pallets, and baling cardboard as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance schedules and inspections.
  • Order supplies and materials for receiving and receiving, and as necessary to complete projects.
  • Maintain the facilities, equipment and grounds in good working order, cleanliness, and per sanitation guidelines for vendors and auditing companies brought in through our vendors.
  • Support each department within the company with necessary maintenance to the facilities, equipment and grounds.
