About The Position

Key Technology in Walla Walla, WA, a global industrial manufacturing company and worldwide leader in food processing technology, is seeking a Fabricator. The company's innovations provide increased control, continuous processing, sorting, automated inspection, specialized conveying, and grading and sizing for various food products. The Fabricator will be trained or assist in operating a range of machines and work centers, including cutoff saws, CNC and standard shears and brakes, rollers, presses, forming machines, CNC and standard Whitney punching machines, CNC plasma & punch machines, and belt, bench, and hand-held grinders. The primary responsibility is to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures. Safety is paramount in all job functions, and the role requires frequent movement between different work centers to support one- or two-person operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to regularly stand.
  • Ability to frequently walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to occasionally reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Be trained or help on one or more of the following machines or work centers: cutoff saws, CNC and standard shears and brakes, rollers, presses, forming machines, CNC and standard whitney punching machines, and CNC plasma & punch machines, belt, bench and hand-held grinders that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
  • Operate machines or work in work centers with supervision.
  • Prioritize safety at all times while performing any part of the job.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Frequently go to different work centers to help where needed to assist in a one- or two-man operation.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece.
  • Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces.
  • Properly use barcode system to reflect time charged to jobs.
