About The Position

Keel was formed by bringing together three industry leaders combining generations of hands-on expertise in steel fabrication, shipbuilding, aerospace, and defense manufacturing. We build ships, defense systems, aerospace components, and heavy steel structures that serve critical missions — and we do it with pride. This is an entry-level position performing basic welding, fitting, and fabrication tasks under close supervision. The role involves learning to interpret blueprints, set up equipment, and complete assigned tasks safely and accurately, working with steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components.

Requirements

Basic welding and fitting skills with Fluxcore, Pulse, and Spray transfer MIG welding.
Ability to use hand tools, measuring devices, and lifting equipment.
Basic understanding of shop math and welding symbols.
Industrious, reliable, and able to focus on tasks until completion.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
6 months to 1 year of welding or fabrication experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

Travel between facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

Perform basic welding and fitting tasks using FCAW (Fluxcore), GMAW (MIG), TIG, Stick, Pulse, and Spray transfer techniques.
Read and follow basic blueprints and weld symbols.
Assist in assembly, grinding, straightening, beveling, bracing, and finishing fabricated parts.
Perform flame cutting and pre- and tack welding as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.
Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
