About The Position

Process Equipment & Controls (PEC) is seeking an experienced TIG Fabricator to join our growing fabrication team in Covington, Georgia. This position is responsible for the fabrication, fitting, and welding of custom metal components and assemblies while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will have strong TIG welding experience, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting shop production goals. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of industrial and custom fabrication projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of TIG welding and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform layout work.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and welding procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic math skills, including measurements, fractions, and geometry.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of fabrication experience in industrial, structural, or miscellaneous metals fabrication.
  • Experience fabricating stainless steel process piping, skids, platforms, handrails, stairs, and custom metal assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of AWS welding standards.
  • Experience with additional welding processes including: GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), SMAW (Stick).
  • Previous leadership or shop supervisory experience.
  • AWS welding certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality TIG (GTAW) welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components.
  • Fabricate, fit, assemble, and weld metal components according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication details.
  • Layout, measure, mark, and prepare materials for fabrication.
  • Coordinate daily activities and priorities with the Shop Foreman.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Operate fabrication equipment, including grinders, saws, drill presses, ironworkers, and other shop tools.
  • Assist with the fabrication of stairs, handrails, platforms, structural supports, and miscellaneous metal projects as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Adhere to all PEC safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of materials throughout the shop.
  • Support project deadlines by working efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.
