About The Position

The primary role of this position is building, repairing, and modifications of one-of-a-kind equipment and parts as opposed to repeatedly making the same part. The fabricator’s responsibilities include operating metal machining tools such as press brake, shear, grinders, iron worker, drills, band saw, rolls, and plasma tables. Other optional equipment skills include lathe and mill. This position would be based in Alphia Ogden, Utah, headquarters and support operations at 7 plants across the US. 10% - 20% of travel to other plants as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of formal fabrication vocational training or 5+ years of applicable experience directly related to metal fabrication (sheet metal through ½ inch)
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely (verbally and in writing)
• Ability to explain, teach, and coach processes, procedures, and concepts.
• Ability to provide constructive and timely feedback.
• Ability to detect problems and opportunities early.
• Ability to identify and gather relevant information to identify underlying issues.

Nice To Haves

• Experience making/repairing parts and equipment used in food manufacturing – packaging equipment (baggers, scales, palletizers, conveyors) – processing equipment (extruders, driers, grinders, scales, pneumatic conveying, pumps)
• Experience rebuilding mechanical components - pumps, gear boxes, shafts, conveyors
• Experience with layout and installation of equipment or structure in an industrial environment
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software

Responsibilities

• Form and fabricate parts and components working from graphic, written, or verbal directions.
• Use machine tools, electric equipment, and instruments working with various metals and other materials within prescribed tolerances.
• Proficiently operate press brake, shear, grinders, iron worker, drills, band saw, rolls, plasma table, and other machines.
• Proficiently perform all welding processes (MIG, TIG, arc).
• Proficiently perform layout and assembly.
• Convert drawings, sketches, and ideas into a finished product.
• Understand and follow work instructions in English.
