About The Position

Hendrick Motorsports, a leader in the auto racing industry is currently seeking a Fabricator III. Utilizes fabrication skills to work on pit equipment, race car components, upper control arms, trailing arms, and oil tanks. Tools typically utilized are sheers, saws, punches, bead roller, belt sander, torches, templates, drills and brakes. Responsible for learning various areas of the car components and improving fabrication skills.

Requirements

  • Experienced knowledge of welding, including MIG, TIG, and tack welding.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Knowledge of templates, measurements, and rules relating to race car standards.
  • Must own personal tools.
  • Machining knowledge and experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Accountability - Accept responsibility and account for his/her own actions.
  • Analytical Skills - Possess critical thinking and reasoning skills to solve a problem.
  • Accuracy - Perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Detail Oriented - Pays attention to the minute details of a project or task.

  • Repairing - Repairing items using needed tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining the causes of operating errors and deciding the action to take.
  • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Use patterns and templates to trace out shapes and cut out parts and pieces.
  • Cut metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind and/or bolt component parts required for welding.
  • Assemble and/ or attach parts and pieces using rivets and various fasteners.
  • Preheat work pieces prior to welding or bending, using torches or heating furnaces.
  • Assist with template checks and inspections.
  • Works in the machine shop machining parts as needed.
  • Tig welds exotic metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to level I and II fabricators.
