About The Position

As a Fabricator II, you will lay out and assemble flat and formed plate components using drawings supplied from engineering with minimal assistance. Tack welding will be required to join parts as part of the assembly. You will set up fabrication components, lay out and grind parts as necessary to develop shape, and assist in the forming of raw plate. This role requires proficiency in blueprint reading (excluding geometric tolerancing) and the ability to assemble complex components like runners, distributor assemblies, shaft-to-runner installations, Kaplan turbine assemblies, and pump assemblies with some direction. You will also be competent in setting up work cells, performing hot and cold forming operations, generating and implementing Lean continuous improvement ideas, vent checking runners and pumps, and operating main cranes to make lifts of components up to 25 tons. Essential functions include accurately interpreting instructions, prints, and work orders; reading and recording measurements; keeping equipment and work area clean; informing supervisors of problems; and painting equipment and job parts. You will also assemble finished machined parts to prove fit and for further machining.

Requirements

  • GED or High School diploma required.
  • Training from college or technical school.
  • Three+ (3+) years of experience.
  • Large structural fabrication experience required.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading.
  • Ability to read and record measurements using conventional micrometers, calipers, and related instruments.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to make roll set ups, mount weldments on to welding positioners.
  • Ability to operate main cranes and pumps with assistance and direction from Fabricator I.

  • Hydro Fabrication experience a plus.
