About The Position

The Fabrication Welder fabricates, fits, welds, repairs, and assembles metal components and structures in accordance with engineering drawings, welding procedures, quality standards, and production schedules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, drawings, work instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving dimensions, angles, tolerances, and layout measurements.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols, welding techniques, basic metallurgy, fabrication practices, and applicable quality standards.
  • Ability to produce welds that meet inspection and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to safely operate welding power sources, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel equipment, grinders, saws, material handling equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds, with heavier items moved using approved lifting devices.
  • Ability to work safely in manufacturing, fabrication, outdoor, elevated, or confined-space environments while using required PPE.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certification in welding or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum one year of fabrication and welding experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld symbols, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment including GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), FCAW, and SMAW processes.
  • Perform fabrication, fitting, tack welding, and final welding of components, assemblies, and structures.
  • Verify dimensions using tape measures, calipers, squares, gauges, and other measuring devices.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, drill presses, ironworkers, and related shop equipment.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, cleaning, beveling, and fitting components.
  • Perform weld repairs and inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Move materials and fabricated parts using approved lifting devices, including cranes, hoists, and forklifts.
  • Maintain welding equipment and work areas in safe operating condition.
  • Complete required production documentation and quality records.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new employees as assigned.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, cost-reduction efforts, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Communicate effectively and contribute to a positive team environment while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
