About The Position

The Fabrication Test Technician II performs intermediate to advanced-level testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of fabricated components, assemblies, and systems. This role supports production, engineering, and quality teams by ensuring products meet specifications, safety requirements, and performance standards. The Technician II is expected to work with limited supervision, interpret technical documentation, and provide feedback for process improvements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or coursework preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in fabrication, testing, or related technical field.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and test procedures.
  • Proficiency with test instruments and measurement tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry, test software).
  • Prioritize individual/team workload to meet or exceed deadlines
  • Have individual and team work ethic
  • Attention to detail
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing, electrical, MIG and Arc Welding, machining, pneumatics/hydraulics
  • Certified in forklift truck operation
  • Technical aptitude
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional, mechanical, electrical, or environmental tests on fabricated parts and assemblies using standard and specialized equipment.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
  • Validate test results against engineering specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Document all test results accurately in logs, databases, or quality systems.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues related to fabrication defects, assembly problems, or test failures.
  • Work closely with engineering to investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Adjust equipment settings or processes as needed to achieve conformance.
  • Assist with fabrication tasks such as assembly, machining, welding prep, or component preparation, as needed.
  • Set up and maintain testing fixtures, jigs, and specialized equipment.
  • Support prototype builds and first-article test execution.
  • Maintain accurate test records, nonconformance reports, and traceability documentation.
  • Ensure test procedures and work instructions are followed and recommend updates when needed.
  • Comply with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards (ISO, OSHA, etc.).
  • Interface with production, quality, and engineering teams to address defects or process concerns.
  • Train junior technicians or new team members on test processes and best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
