About The Position

MP Systems is an OEM manufacturer of accessories for the CNC industry, designing rugged and dependable high pressure coolant systems, chillers, coolant filtration, mist collection and other accessories for machine tools. Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Fabrication Technician will perform tasks related to the production of sheet metal components and weldments. This individual is also responsible for finishing operations to facilitate the completion of said components. Also, verify that components are free from defects or inconsistencies upon completion and are packaged appropriately prior to release to production. This position provides an opportunity in a high growth business in manufacturing. We are looking for a motivated individual with the ability to successfully operate in a team setting.

Requirements

  • Understanding proper use of hand and power tools.
  • Basic welding and fabrication knowledge.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced technical manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Quality, and Health and Safety Standards.

  • Must be highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises.
  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while prioritizing multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period of times.
  • Able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years continued education, trades, or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and follow production work orders and any associated paperwork, ie. Schematics, work instructions, production orders.
  • Operation of fabrication area equipment: CNC Press brake – job programming, tool setup and operation, CNC Plasma table – job programming, material handling, machine maintenance, Manual Mill & Lathe – work holding, turning and milling operations, Material cutting equipment- operation of cold saws, band saws, and handheld plasma
  • Operation of welding equipment with process knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, STAW
  • Determine appropriate processes and process parameters
  • Operation of finishing line equipment: Steam cleaning equipment, powder coating equipment, electric ovens
  • Promote safe work habits and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Follow Safety guidelines, expressed or otherwise informed.
  • Able to lift <50lbs as an individual
  • Follow proper testing and safety procedures
  • Proper use of hand and powered tools daily: angle/die grinders, drills, sanding/polishing equipment
  • Perform related duties as required
