About The Position

Quantum Signal AI is looking for a Fabrication Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication of prototype components, assembly of systems, preventive maintenance of lab equipment, and organization of lab spaces in an R&D environment. Great candidates will have a broad understanding of fabrication methods, such as 3D printing, general metal and woodwork, finishing, welding, and experience with CAD modeling and assembly. This is a hands-on position ideal for a mid-level technician with 2 to 5 years of experience. Requirements

  • Associates degree (or equivalent experience) in Advanced Manufacturing, Fabrication Technology, or similar program.
  • 2 to 5 years of related working experience.
  • Solid mechanical understanding of tools, machines, designs, fasteners, functionality, etc.
  • Proficiency in CAD.
  • Commitment to following safe operational procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to apply existing technologies and creative problem-solving techniques to unfamiliar challenges.
  • Interest in learning new things.
  • Ability to lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to safely walk and stand for extended periods of time, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAM pathing.
  • Experience with CNC 3-axis mill, CNC plasma cutter, or CNC router.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing and related software.
  • Experience with pick and place machines.
  • Work or hobby experience with reverse-engineering.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts.
  • Experience working as a member of multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Use manual tools including bandsaws, sheet metal bending, welding, lathe, drill press, tapping, various hand tools, router, sander, and basic power tools.
  • Operate 3D printers (FDM and SLA) and post processing on 3D prints.
  • Finishing (coating or painting) manufactured parts.
  • Review CAD models and determine the best method of fabrication within the constraints provided by the engineering team.
  • Provide input on designs based on abilities and limitations of fabrication methods.
  • Perform electrical work including soldering, wiring harnesses, crimping, etc.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and trouble shoot equipment.
  • Assemble and install components as projects require.
  • Create and review documentation associated with the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.
