About The Position

This role focuses on the precision grinding and polishing of telecom wafers and coupons, emphasizing the critical importance of optical flatness. The technician will operate precision grinding equipment, select appropriate materials, and perform fine polishing to meet stringent tolerances and surface finish requirements. The position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and a commitment to quality and safety.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience with networked PC based computer systems.
Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
Minium of 2 years working in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the Telecom Industry.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons.
Strong ability to work independently and manage priorities in a production environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons.
Inspect and prepare raw optical wafers.
Verify material specifications and cleanliness before processing optical glass.
Operate precision grinding equipment to thin wafers to required tolerances.
Select appropriate grinding compounds, pads, and tooling based on material type.
Perform fine polishing to achieve required surface finish and flatness.
