The engineer acts as a technical and commercial liaison between project teams, subcontractors, and fabrication facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in fabrication, subcontracting, or project execution roles with focus on large-scale infrastructure/energy projects (onshore or offshore).
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes and metrics.
  • Proficiency in project planning tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of international codes and regulatory standards (ASME, AWS, ISO, ABS, DNV) preferred.
  • Certification in Contract Management or Project Controls (NCMA, CPCP) also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement fabrication yards subcontracting strategies aligned with project objectives.
  • Identify and prequalify fabrication subcontractors based on capability, capacity, and compliance.
  • Develop sourcing plans and negotiate subcontract terms to optimize cost and schedule.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Conduct technical audits of fabrication yards for quality, safety, and capacity.
  • Support bid evaluations and recommend award strategies.
  • Track subcontractor performance against KPIs (schedule, quality, cost).
  • Implement corrective actions for delays or quality issues.
  • Prepare periodic performance reports for management.
  • Identify risks related to subcontracting and develop mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise between engineering, procurement, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Facilitate progress meetings and ensure alignment on deliverables.
  • Support dispute resolution and claims management.
