About The Position

Intertek's Transportation Technologies team is seeking a Fabrication Specialist to join their team in Plymouth, Michigan. This role offers a career in materials machining and involves on-site fabrication of fixtures and test set-ups, providing assistance and advice to the engineering team, and evaluating and repairing mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment. The team offers Total Quality Assurance expertise to the automotive, battery and energy storage, and related transportation industries, ensuring products meet quality, safety, sustainability, and performance standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
5+ years related experience including extensive welding, milling, lathe work, equipment design repair and maintenance.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities.
Excellent customer service skills.
Good communication skills, in both verbal and written formats.
Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Machining per provided prints of mechanical test assemblies.
Assembly and verification of mechanical test assemblies.
Welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Overseeing and advising others on the use of shop resources.
Advising the mechanical design team and other engineering staff with emphasis on optimizing designs to be efficiently fabricated.
Maintenance and repair of shop equipment and lab equipment as needed.
Other duties as needed.
