About The Position

Intertek's Transportation Technologies team is seeking a Fabrication Specialist to join their team in Plymouth, Michigan. This role offers a career in materials machining and involves on-site fabrication of fixtures and test set-ups, providing assistance and advice to the engineering team, and evaluating and repairing mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment. The team offers Total Quality Assurance expertise to the automotive, battery and energy storage, and related transportation industries, ensuring products meet quality, safety, sustainability, and performance standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years related experience including extensive welding, milling, lathe work, equipment design repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good communication skills, in both verbal and written formats.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Machining per provided prints of mechanical test assemblies.
  • Assembly and verification of mechanical test assemblies.
  • Welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Overseeing and advising others on the use of shop resources.
  • Advising the mechanical design team and other engineering staff with emphasis on optimizing designs to be efficiently fabricated.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop equipment and lab equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.
