About The Position

The Fabrication & Shop Technician is a versatile member of the fabrication team responsible for supporting multiple areas of fabrication. This position should be capable of performing a variety of tasks including metal forming, welding, material handling, and shipping duties to help ensure products are moved and manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and has flexibility to work wherever needed throughout the shop. The function will be a key resource for the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in welding, fabrication, or manufacturing required.
  • Experience operating robotic welders and press brakes.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing production needs.
  • Reliable attendance and a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong computer skills including Outlook and Excel.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with people.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding certification preferred.
  • Welding and Forklift preferred or willingness to obtain certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on steel components according to drawings and work instructions.
  • Tack weld assemblies prior to final welding.
  • Grind and finish welds to meet quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure dimensional accuracy and weld quality.
  • Load and unload parts into robotic welding cells.
  • Operate robotic welding equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine quality inspections on welded components.
  • Make minor fixture adjustments and report equipment issues to Plant Manager.
  • Set up and operate press brake equipment.
  • Form and bend metal components to specification.
  • Verify dimensions using measuring tools.
  • Maintain quality and consistency throughout production runs.
  • Prepare finished products for shipment, including required paperwork.
  • Package materials to prevent damage during transport.
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts or other material handling equipment (will certify).
  • Assist with inventory organization and movement of materials throughout the facility.
  • Maintain accurate inventory paying attention to inventory transactions.
  • Crosstrain in multiple manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in multiple areas as production demands require.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
