About The Position

HB McClure is a 100% employee-owned company with over 100 years of experience in commercial mechanical solutions. They are seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Manager to lead the daily operations of their Harrisburg fabrication shop. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for directing shop workflow and staff, while also being actively involved in fabricating metal and fiberglass ductwork. The manager will ensure production needs are met safely, accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. The compensation is $40/hr+ based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in sheet metal, duct fabrication, HVAC fabrication, or a related trade environment
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal and duct fabrication methods, materials, equipment, and shop practices
  • Ability to read and interpret ductwork specifications, measurements, drawings, and job-related documentation
  • Experience with duct fabrication software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with material tracking, inventory control, cost allocation, and production-related cost management
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Valid PA driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English for safety, training, and operational coordination

Nice To Haves

  • technical or trade school training in sheet metal fabrication, HVAC, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily fabrication shop operations, including work assignments, training, coaching, and performance management of Duct Fabrication Technicians
  • Manage incoming ductwork requests, prioritize service orders, and coordinate shop workflow to meet field and project needs
  • Fabricate and oversee the fabrication of metal and fiberglass ductwork using coil line, plasma arc burn table, duct fabrication programs, and related shop equipment
  • Maintain accurate production records, including job specifications, labor, materials, costs, and appropriate cost-center allocation
  • Manage fabrication materials, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships to support production needs
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for fabrication equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safe operation
  • Partner with field and office teams to communicate production needs, resolve issues, and respond to changing project requirements
  • Monitor productivity, material utilization, quality, and workflow to reduce waste and improve shop efficiency
  • Promote and enforce company safety standards and the proper use and care of fabrication tools and equipment
