About The Position

The primary duties of the Fabrication Quality Control Technician at PowerSecure revolve around ensuring the quality and overall conformity of the welds, paint, powder coat and metal fabrication for products that are manufactured, packaged, and assembled at the DI Campus and Randleman location. The individual’s responsibility is to ensure all fabricated material manufactured at PowerSecure meet the predefined inspection criteria and are in conformance with design documents, customer specifications, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in roles related to quality assurance and/or fabrication.
  • Weld, Paint, or Fabrication knowledge and experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents mechanical drawings, Weld and Coating symbols, work instructions, and written directions.
  • Ability to use the computer and enter information in database.
  • Recognize and understand a wide variety of welding techniques.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Level 1 Inspector - Minimum requirements /1 year of formal training such as a Diploma in Welding Technology from a community college or an apprenticeship in a welding related craft, 2+ years industry experience. Coating inspection and blast inspection training provided by supervisor.
  • Level 2 Inspector – Level 1 requirements completed, NACE Level 1 certified, completion of preparatory AWS CWI. +5 years industry experience.
  • Level 3 Inspector – Level 1 and Level 2 requirements completed, NACE Level 2 qualifications. AWS CWI. +7 years industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Understands the equipment, the standards, UL file requirements, and general manufacturing practices in steel and aluminum manufacturing, weld, or paint/powder coating.
  • Maintains inspection equipment.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, including proper dimension, joint strength, weld penetration, conformance with work-order specifications and defects like cracks, spatters, overlap and size.
  • Discusses inspection results with those responsible for products.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing rework; inputting data into database.
  • Identifies and follows proper procedure for all non-conforming material. Assists in ensuring all non-conforming reports (NCR) are tracked and recorded.
  • Communicates and cooperates with the engineering, manufacturing, and quality department to ensure quality compliance and continual product improvement.
